Mud jacking will give concrete surfaces several years of life. Mud jacking can be repeated if the concrete surface is in good condition.

Mud jacking cannot repair potholes, as the slurry is not intended as a surface material. Similarly, pool and foundation repairs cannot be addressed with mud jacking, as the slurry cannot hold the weight of a house or a large amount of water. In addition, if the concrete is at the end of its lifespan, usually indicated by crumbling, mud jacking may not be the right solution, as it does not prolong the life of the exposed surface.

The cost of mud jacking is significantly less than the cost of replacement, making it the economical choice for situations where the concrete surface still has life left. The cost of the mud jacking is determined by the time it takes to complete the job, the size of the concrete surface, and the void that will need to be filled with the slurry to level the concrete.

While mud jacking has many positives, the process is not a cosmetic fix. The process will not make cracks disappear, but will bring them closer together to remove the tripping hazard. Mud jacking will leave “scars” from the repair holes, which, although subtle, will be visible. The surface will be level, and the appearance will improve, but it will not look brand new.
